Did you box:
Yes, as a Junior and Senior
When & why did you start coaching:
When I was still boxing I got mugged and my arm got broken, I had 3 more bouts after that but eventaully had to stop because of the it. Coaching was the inevitable answer. Its been 22 years now and I don't regret it.
Worst aspect of being a coach:
(Laughs) there are quite a few, to many to choose from in fact - girls (stopping my boys from boxing), booze, fags, bad decsions. The list goes on.
Best aspect of being a coach:
Just the enjoyment of it all. Seing the lads perform, whether they win, lose or draw, as long as they give 100% and go out to win.

What makes your club/boxers stand out from other clubs:
It's a relaxed club that maintains a strong level of discipline. And we never put boxers out who aren't fit, we are very strict about that.
What kind of boxing do you teach:
Our club doesn't have any paticular style, we tend to teach whatever style suits the boy.
Has Amatuer Boxing improved:
It's improved a bit but there's still a very long way to go. There has to be funding for the smaller clubs. And something I feel quite strongly about is the lack of squad training. I'm not talking about an elite standerd, I'm not even talking about boxing for a squad, just letting boxers get the chance to train for a regional squad. I think it would give so many of them a big lift.
