  Lea Burrows
ROLE: Coach

Did you box:
Yes, schoolboy

Why did you start coaching:
6 years ago because I was too old to box and wanted to help the club and give something back.

Worst aspect of being a coach:
That my wife won't let me do more days. I hope she doesn't read this. But it all honesty I dont think there are too many bad things about coaching. Nothing that outways the positives anyway.

Best aspect of being a coach:
Its extreamly rewarding coaching young people. You regualry see boxing change their lives for the better and its such a good feeling knowing you had something to do with that.

What makes your club/boxers stand out from other clubs:
All our boxers are very fit. They don't box if they aren't fit enough. Our boxers are also very driven and always try to win.

What kind of boxing do you teach:
We try and install the basics in to all of them but it really depends on the boxer. Although we do try and keep it more traditional upright boxing if possiable.

Has Amatuer Boxing improved:
Very much so - esspecially the safty of it all. Also the fact that it's now coming back into schools. I think thats great for everyone.

No titles yet, but its an achievement to have had the courage to climb into a ring and box.

What boxer are you like:
Joe Calzaghe because he's calm and always works out his opponent.

Why Did You Start Boxing:
I think it was a combonation of watching the Rocky films and watching Calzaghe on TV.

Toughest Bout So Far:
My 2nd bout was very hard. I hurt my thumb early on and had to box in severe pain. I lost and found out after my thumb had broken.

Worst memory in boxing:
When I heard the MC announce my opponents name in my second bout. I had worked through so much pain and to lose was really fristraitng .

Best memory in boxing
:

Hearing the lads from my gym cheering me as I climbed through the ropes in my first bout.

What is it you most like about your club
:
The coaches are very friendly and always spend alot of time with the boxers who are willing to work hard and show their dedication.

Ambitions in Boxing:
Represent Epsom & Ewell in major competions and to fight for the South of England.

Toughest Bout So Far:
I think it has to be my first bout and thats purley because of how nervous I was before the fight.

Best memory in boxing:
Knocking down my opponent in my third bout, that was a great feeling and it was good to be able to use my power I knew I had to that effect.
